Welcome back Chaise Lounge readers to the final installment of the newsletter for 2021. The end of the year is a time to take stock of what has happened and figure out what it means for the future. So I decided that now is a good time to look back at all of the statistics that Substack gives me for each article and see what that means for Chaise Lounge in 2022. It really is amazing the amount of information that they share with writers to help us figure out what is and is not working. I took a look at the number of times each article was opened and then the percentage of people who actually read the article. It is pretty interesting to see which articles were the most popular and which did not seem to move the needle much. Below are the top ten articles of the year, so if you missed any of these, make sure to give them a read!

So what does this tell me as a newsletter writer and publisher? The first thing that I noticed is that in spite of writing quite a few pieces about how the pandemic is affecting women in the economy, many of those pieces fell flat. I had thought that women would want to know about the economic impact of the pandemic, but perhaps they were just feeling it personally and did not need me to tell them.
The pieces that were most popular with readers involved women’s health, the way doctors treat female patients, and reproductive law and health issues. I am listening to you, so be prepared for more articles having to do with women’s health in 2022.
Leave a comment below letting me know what you would like to see me write about next year. Until then, enjoy the final holiday weekend.
